Turkey Alert
by Gordon Lockheed
An Irish Times/Reuters story has 130 "children" in the Anatolian town of Kirikkale being "briefly detained by police for spending time in an Internet Café.
It's hardly news that a progressive regime like the current one in Turkey is going to find the Internet a corrupting influence-they have to get something right once in a while. The presence of Internet Cafes in the Turkish countryside is, however, something of a revelation, and should spark a migratory rush of I.C. entrepreneurs who can't make a dime in the West's metropolises. Still under scrutiny is the Turkish government's definition of "children", and whether any of the 130 will still be children when their "briefly detained" status changes.
