As a member of two of the persecuted minority groups mentioned in the above article, what do the monuments actually mean to you? even if they're appropriate and tasteful? is it just about having a physical reminder right in the middle of the city? what is it that makes those monuments or any others, not just a shallow attempt at showing remorse? you say they're appropriate, but in what way, and is that way really significant? there must be people who just think they're a waste of time, money and effort. How do they support their position and not appear as neo-nazi bigots?
