I was literary coordinator the summer at Fort San that Brian Fawcett talks about. Most of what he says is true. But the sandbox motif is overplayed. There are equally good writers in BC who are just as capable of writing equally bad prose as Allan Safarik. And Saskatchewan still manages to boast more GGs per capita than any other province. So competing with Guy Vanderhaeghe, Sandra Birdsell et al. in our sandbox is not the mere trifle Brian would like to implicate. Oh, and the guitar player? His name was my brother's wife's brother. He was a social worker in Regina -- his day job. He committed suicide two years ago.
