I'm ashamed by the volume of used books I buy, certainly, but used books dramatize the appeal of real books: the traces of former owners, the history implied by the physical objects. I've had good experiences with e-books of one kind or another, but they're not ... real, yet, and I don't know how they'll address the materiality issue.
